Letter To The Editor: Thanks To Cancer Society's Local Volunteers
The writer is Leadership Council Chair for the American Cancer Society in Westchester and Rockland.

To the editor:
As Leadership Council Chair for the American Cancer Society in Westchester and Rockland counties, there are no words that can possibly express the Society’s gratitude for all that our volunteers do. They are exemplary people who are committed to the fight against cancer. They selflessly give their time, energy and talents to make sure we will one day live in a world without cancer.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the American Cancer Society. They lead Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer teams, assist with everyday office needs, advocate for healthier communities, and drive cancer patients to and from treatment.

As we celebrate national volunteer week, I want to thank every one of our volunteers for their dedication and passion; and encourage anyone touched by cancer to consider becoming a volunteer. Volunteer drivers are especially needed. Our volunteer drivers are literally giving someone the ride of their life, helping patients in need overcome what is often their biggest obstacle, getting to treatment. The driving schedule is flexible, with drivers choosing the number of rides they want to provide. To learn more, visit cancer.org/volunteer or call 1.800.227.2345.
