Maya Manley is New Castle's 'Woman of Distinction' Choice

Maya Manley has been chosen as New Castle's pick for the Women of Distinction Hall of Fame, an honor from state Sen. Greg Ball that provide a look at women in each municipality in his district.

Manley is a co-founder of the Making Headway Foundation, her provided biography notes, "which is dedicated to the care, comfort, and cure of children with brain and spinal cord tumors."

Manley, whose daughter Cynthia had a brain tumor, felt there was a lack of a support system or information for her family, her biography notes. The foundation was founded in 1996 and since then more than $6.5 million have been raised for funding programs. This includes $1 million for New York University's Neuro Oncology Laboratory.
