The Mount Kisco Police Department welcomed two of its newest members in swearing in ceremonies held at Monday's Village Board of Trustees meeting.
The new officers are Jeff Slotoroff and Samuel Fagin, who each bring unique backgrounds to the fold.
Slotoroff is perhaps best known locally for helping to save residents from a burning Maple Avenue apartment building on April 15. Working as a Westchester EMS parademic at the time, Slotoroff was returning from a previous call and driving down Maple when he noticed smoke coming from the building. He went in to help evacuate residents, and was subsequently joined by Mount Kisco Officer James Whalen in the effort. They were both honored by the village board in May. In addition, Slotoroff, a Yorktown resident, has served as a volunteer firefighter for the Yorktown Heights Fire Department.

Fagin, a Somers native, is coming from the New York Police Department after spending more than three years there, where his duties included patrol in Harlem. He holds a law degree from Boston University, a bachelor's in polictical science from Duke University and was admitted to the bar in New York and Connecticut.
Fagin has already started working as a policeman, while Slotoroff said he is still training at the academy and hopes to start Dec. 17.
