Khader, open in Mount Kisco since 1990, was originally located on Lexington Avenue and then further down Smith Avenue. When she was a solo practitioner, she only focused on nutritional counseling. Her staff now includes seven full-time employees with expanded offerings. Massages, facials, claypacking for joints and yoga are also among alternative programs offered.

Khader's work can be complimentary to other treatments. With the right diet support, she explained, the impact of chemotherapy can be lessened if the change is made a few weeks beforehand.

On a recent June Saturday, Khader held an open house, with staff, patients and family present. The purpose of it, she explained, is to "really introduce us to the community."

Andre Audaut, the business manager, explained that an important part of the center is to took at an individual "as a whole person."

"I recommend this to everyone," said Irma Vollrath, a Chappaqua resident who is one of Khader's longtime patients.

"I come here for everything," said Cindy Massari, a Somers resident and patient. She explained that any time she feels under the weather, she consults Khader to see if anything can be done in a holistic way.
