A New Castle kids’ baseball team that is seeking to raise money for a trip to a Cooperstown, NY tournament recently got a lesson in fundraising after it participated in an initiative with Frannie’s Goodie Shop.
Frannie Albanese, the Mount Kisco frozen yogurt store’s owner, told Patch that she was approached by a Chappaqua mom, Diane Thaler, who told her about the popularity of the shop with the team and asked if the store had any fundraising to help them, with is a 12U called the New Castle All Stars.
The team participated in a Frannie’s fundraiser where the shop gives $3 back for every $10 in gift cards that are sold, which the team tried over a 2-week period. The team sold 345 gift cards for $10, Albanese noted, and received $1,035 in return.
"This fundraiser was a great way for the team to raise funds towards our Cooperstown trip,” a mom who organized the fundraiser, said in a provided quote. “The gift cards were easy to sell since people got value for their money and everyone loves Frannies!"
The New Castle All Stars are hoping to play in Cooperstown this summer.
