New Chappaqua DAR Chapter Kicked Off Saturday
The Inaugural Celebration was held Saturday at the New Castle Community Center.

From the Polly Cooper Chapter of the DAR. CHAPPAQUA, NY— The Polly Cooper Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) held its Inaugural Celebration on Saturday at the New Castle Community Center.
"The New York State Organization Daughters of the American Revolution is so pleased to welcome the Polly Cooper Chapter to our State Family," said Nancy Zwetsch, State Regent.
The event was well attended by many of the new members, prospective members and D.A.R. New York State Society's officers, district directors, and regents from other D.A.R. chapters. Also in attendance were New Castle town historian, Gray Williams and Sons of the American Revolution, Westchester and Putnam County Chapter President, Ken Stevens.

The New York Organizing Secretary, Jennifer Gentry Malara commented, "It's so exciting to be a part of the birth of this dynamic Chapter! With the energy and leadership of Regent Kari Weis, the Polly Cooper Chapter will certainly have a positive impact on Chappaqua and the surrounding communities."
Charter Member Ivy Pool said, "Today's DAR is all about friendship, family, and community. It is truly an honor to be a charter member of the Polly Cooper Chapter in Chappaqua, NY — a town of great historical significance that values public service and civic engagement. I'm looking forward to making new friends who share my passion for community service and interest in American history."

The chapter was named after Polly Cooper, an Oneida woman who fed and nursed members of the Continental Army, at Valley Forge and afterward.
DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond - an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America.
The NSDAR is open to all women, ages 18 and older, who have a direct line to a Patriot who served in the American Revolution. For more information please visit www.dar.org.
