New DAR Chapter Organized in Chappaqua
The Polly Cooper Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution organized on April 15, 2017.
Chappaqua, NY – The Polly Cooper Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution organized on April 15, 2017 by Kari Weis, organizing regent, and 18 other organizing members from the communities in Chappaqua and surrounding areas. The National Society at its May 5th, 2017 board meeting confirmed the chapter.
The new chapter will run a genealogy workshop with the New Castle Historical Society to help locals trace their lineage back to the American Revolution. The May 13th genealogy workshop will run from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Horace Greeley House, 100 King Street in Chappaqua and is open to the public free of charge. While an RSVP is not required it is encouraged. The guest lecturer, Kari Weis, is the organizing regent of the new chapter and New York State DAR Vice Chair of Volunteer Genealogy. In addition to Kari, other DAR members will be on hand to help with any questions. The workshop is designed to assist those who are interested in finding American Revolutionary patriots in their family tree. If individuals haven't started to collect any family documentation, they are encouraged to come and learn about the steps needed to document lineage. Experience researchers are welcome as well.
DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America.
