Keeva Young-Wright, President of the Northern Westchester Hospital Foundation, is pleased to announce that Heather Durst has been appointed as the Foundation’s newest Board Member.

In 1999, the Northern Westchester Hospital Foundation was incorporated as a separate 501c (3) organization for the sole purpose of supporting Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH). The Foundation is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees who ensures that gifts are used according to the donor’s wishes and only for Northern Westchester Hospital.

“Northern Westchester Hospital is successful largely because of the community’s continued generosity, and Heather is a key part of this community,” said Ms. Young-Wright. “In 2015 Heather very successfully co-chaired the hospital’s gala, helping us to raise more than $1 million, and also co-hosted a very well attended Speaker Series event focused on early childhood development. We are thrilled that she is now a Foundation Board Member and will continue her important involvement with the hospital.”

“Northern Westchester Hospital means so much to me and my family and it is very close to my heart,” said Ms. Durst. “I’m honored and excited to join the Foundation’s Board. I plan to be hands-on to help in any way that I can, because when you work with a local hospital, it is a fantastic way to give to the community. It is also work that is results-driven and tangible, whether it is working in a hospital garden, or serving as the co-chair for a gala that raises critical funds for patient-centered care.”

Ms. Durst attended The Harvey School and The University of Hartford. Following her graduation, she worked in Advertising Sales at Nostalgia Television, now known as Good Times TV, eventually rising through the ranks to Account Executive. She went on to open the New York office of a Chicago boutique agency, Zephyr Media Group, and ultimately retired from Zephyr as Vice President of the firm in 2007 to raise her son.

Since retiring from the corporate world, she has focused her time on taking classes at Stone Barns for organic agriculture and continuing her pursuit of dressage riding. Additionally, she has become very involved at her son’s elementary school. She currently serves as Grade Representative for the Kindergarten class, has served as Class Mother, fundraising at the Annual Fund Representative of the Senior Pre-K class and has co-chaired donation solicitations for the school’s gala. Ms. Durst has coordinated events for the Katonah Museum of Art and is currently co-chair of its annual spring gala.

When not immersed in her volunteer activities, Heather can be found riding her horse at Sunnyfield Farm in Bedford and taking care of her family’s farm where they raise chickens, alpacas, and soon, ducklings.
