Orange, Not Helplessness: A New Castle Gun Violence Awareness Rally
Attendees are asked to wear orange in support of the victims of gun violence and signal solidarity in response to a nationwide epidemic.
NEW CASTLE, NY —The New Castle Town Board will recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day with a message of hope rather than frustration.
A rally to demand an end to gun violence will take place on Friday, at 5 p.m. at the Town Gazebo. Attendees are asked to wear orange to honor gun violence victims.
National Gun Violence Awareness Day is intended to promote advocacy and volunteerism to counter the ever-increasing deaths, injuries and traumatic impacts on hundreds of thousands of people from gun violence— most recently in Uvalde, Texas and closer to home in Buffalo.

The event is organized by the Town of New Castle and "Moms Demand Action" volunteers Lea Barth and Naomi Marrow. New Castle Police Chief James Carroll and Las Vegas gun violence survivor Erin Fuller Brian will also be on hand to provide first person testimonials on the lasting effects of gun violence.
The organizers say they hope that the rally will signal that elected officials are on the case, and in New York especially, have and will continue to take direct action to reduce gun violence.
