Photos: Big Truck Day Excites Kids in Chappaqua

First responders bring out their heavy vehicles for the occasion.

On a bright and sunny Tuesday morning, the constant honking of horns could be heard in the Chappaqua Library's parking lot, reminder that kids were coming out in large numbers to check out the library's annual Big Truck Day.

The parking lot was filled with several vehicles, including Chappaqua and Millwood fire trucks, a Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps (CVAC) van, school buses and New Castle town highway vehicles.

Turnout for the whole event was about 1,500, estimated Joan Kuhn, the library's program coordinator. The day concluded with a procession of the trucks exiting the lot and headling north along South Greeley Avenue.
