(Chappaqua, NY) The Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR hosted a Chapter Awards Luncheon to celebrate the chapter’s second anniversary and honor extraordinary volunteer efforts of two DAR members on Saturday, May 5, 2019, at The Old Stone Mill in Tuckahoe, NY. The chapter presented DAR members Libby Baker (Enoch Crosby Chapter, NY) and Constance Howe (Greater Dallas Chapter, TX) with the Polly Cooper Award for their continued mentoring and support.

Gray Williams, Town Historian of New Castle and chair of the New Castle Landmarks Advisory Committee, served as the luncheon's speaker, delivering a presentation about the Quakers in Westchester. His speech brought to reality the challenges and choices faced, and sacrifices made by the individuals and families who lived in this area during the American Revolution. In June 2018, Polly Cooper Chapter presented Gray with the Historic Preservation Medal, the most prestigious preservation award given by the National Society, with fewer than 30 awarded each year throughout the United States. On May 17, 2019, the Polly Cooper Chapter presented a donation to the New Castle Historical Society in honor of Mr. Williams to further the organization's historic preservation efforts.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Its members descend from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. With more than 185,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations.
