Chappaqua, NY – The Polly Cooper Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) celebrated the one-year anniversary today of their chapter's founding. The Chapter Regent, Kari Weis said, "I'm honored to be one of the 46 charter members of the Polly Cooper Chapter. We have a diverse group of women from age 18 to women in their 80's from all kinds of backgrounds. It's a fantastic group and a great way to get involved in service to our community through historic preservation, education, and patriotism."
The chapter was named after Polly Cooper, a female patriot and Oneida Indian, who served General George Washington during the Revolutionary war.
DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond - an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America. The NSDAR is open to all women, ages 18 and older, who have a direct line to a Patriot who served in the American Revolution. For more information please visit www.dar.org.
