Protest in New Castle Wednesday: 'We Are All Immigrants'

Participants please wear a name tag with both your name and the name of the place/s from which your family originally emigrated.

CHAPPAQUA, NY — The Chappaqua Interfaith Council, New Castle Inclusion and Diversity Committee, Westchester Refugee Task Force and Up2Us are jointly hosting a demonstration Wednesday evening

WHAT: All are invited to participate in a demonstration to oppose the recently announced executive order on immigration and refugees as a defilement of the most basic American values.

The Chappaqua Interfaith Council: “Demonstrators object to any action that singles out individuals based on religious belief. Such shameful policies are rooted in exclusion and discrimination, echoing the darkest moments of our nation's history. The intent of this demonstration is to constitute only the beginning of the united efforts towards welcoming the stranger throughout the community and the world at large.”

Participants are asked to please arrive wearing a name tag with both your name and the name of the place/s from which your family originally immigrated. As attacks on one faith constitute an attack on all faiths, stand with our Muslim brothers and sister in rejecting hate.

All Americans are called upon to protect the fundamental principle of religious freedom upon which our country was founded and articulated so succinctly in the words of Emma Lazarus: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free; the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door."
