Mount Kisco Loses the 'Q' in Local BBQ

Owner cites lack of volume, density of population.

The popular Q Restaurant & Bar has closed its Mount Kisco location as of today.

Jeffrey Kohn, co-owner of the Route 117 restaurant and its sister establishment in Port Chester, cited a lack of volume and that the space was too big for the amount of takeout they were doing.

Kohn also said the area didn't have enough residents for it to thrive. "We need a much more densely populated community," he said.

In contrast, Kohn said that the restaurant's model of "fast casual" works in Port Chester, and that there are more people in that area. That location is unaffected.

Q was known for its top notch BBQ and friendly, casual atmosphere.

Money was also a factor. When asked if closing Q in Mount Kisco was a business decision, Kohn said yes and that the location never turned a profit.

When asked if he has any plans to re-enter northern Westchester, Kohn said simply, "No."
