Dog v Rabid Raccoon in New Castle Park
Police remind residents about protecting themselves and pets and reporting incidents.
New Castle police report a pet dog came in contact with a sick raccoon March 29 in Glaizer Park.
The Westchester County Department of Health determined that the raccoon had rabies.
Residents should call the New Castle Police Department at 238-4422 (911 in an emergency) if they see sick, injured or abandoned animals.
