It’s cold out there but you’ve just finished a lovely, warm meal at Chappaqua’s delicious French restaurant, Le Jardin du Roi. You feel good. And now, you can feel even better.

Welcome to “Shared Plates,” a new program to help end local hunger being launched by The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry. Tucked inside your bill will be a small card. Simply by checking a box, you can let your server know if you’d like to add $1, $2, $5 (or more) to your bill to benefit the Pantry.

That’s it. Le Jardin will take care of the rest. You can feel good knowing that you’ve helped others have enough to eat during these cold winter months.

Joe Quartararo, owner of Le Jardin, says he was delighted to have his bistro launch the program. “It’s great to be involved with a terrific organization like the Pantry,” he said. “We’re happy to be the ones introducing ‘Shared Plates.’”

The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry is a local, nonprofit volunteer organization offering weekly food distributions to anyone in need. We provide each household with enough groceries for almost four days’ worth of meals, including fresh eggs, frozen meats, non-perishable staples and fresh produce. For each $1 donated, we can buy $4 of food.

“We are so honored to have Le Jardin piloting “Shared Plates” for us,” said Ruth Parnes, VP of Outreach for the Pantry. “This spring we hope to launch the program to include other area restaurants.”
