Roaring Brook Road to Close Again At Grade Crossing this Weekend

Improvements at Roaring Brook Road in Chappaqua where it crosses the Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line tracks will continue this weekend.

It’s part of a collaboration with the New York State Department of Transportation and the Town of New Castle.

The road will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, July 10 until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12.

Weekend train service will not be affected.

The railroad will take one track out of service to replace the concrete approach, on the east side of the Roaring Brook Road grade crossing, with a new concrete deck and associated structural work to improve the drainage. Maintenance of Way crews will also continue to clear numerous culverts and deepen ditches on either side of the tracks.

The area is prone to flooding because of the nearby juncture of Roaring Brook and Chappaqua Brook, which runs alongside the tracks.

All trains will operate on the single track that remains in service, just as it did last month for related improvements.

During this work, the NYS DOT will close the entrance and exit ramps from the Saw Mill River Parkway and Roaring Brook Road between the Parkway and Southview Road.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour and expect delays. Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including work zone signs and flaggers.
