Roaring Brook Road to Close for Work Friday through Sunday Evening

It's all about the grade crossing.

Improvements at Roaring Brook Road in Chappaqua, where it crosses the Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line tracks, will continue this weekend.

The road is expected to be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, July 31 until 7 p.m. Sunday, August 2. Weekend train service will not be affected.

The project is a collaboration with Metro North, the New York State Department of Transportation and the Town of New Castle.

The railroad will replace the concrete approach, on the east side of the Roaring Brook Road grade crossing, with a new concrete deck and associated structural work to improve the drainage. Maintenance of Way crews will also continue to clear numerous culverts and deepen ditches on either side of the tracks. The area is prone to flooding because of the nearby juncture of Roaring Brook and Chappaqua Brook, which runs alongside the tracks.

During this work, the NYSDOT will close the entrance and exit ramps from the Saw Mill River Parkway and Roaring Brook Road between the Parkway and Southview Road.
