Save the Date: Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund Spring Gala is March 13

Help provide 'gap' grants for Greeley grads.

Last year, the Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund awarded $161,850 in grants to 26 recipients.

But there were still applicants with unmet needs. In a typical year, more than 40 Greeley graduates apply for a grant from the GHSF.

“Each July the HGSF Grants Committee reviews the applications submitted and each July we are struck by how deeply some of our neighbors here in Chappaqua are struggling to meet basic needs let alone pay for a child’s college education,” the fund’s leaders say on the Horace Greeley Scholarship Fund website.

Hence the annual spring gala, the HGSF’s big fundraising event.

This year it’s on March 13 at the Mount Kisco Country Club, and it will include something new: a live auction and a jewelry raffle.

At the gala, Lori Townsend will receive the Ed Habermann Award. HGSF will also give Dr. Michael Kirsch the Horace Greeley Award of Distinction.
