She Said What??? How to Deal With Your Child’s Back Talk When the Other Tips Do Not Seem To Work..
Is it the worst thing in the world for your teen to use some sarcasm when responding to you? Not really..but when she is rude or mean on a consistent basis it is time to step it up to show her you mean business...
It always helps, in most disciplinary areas with your children, to lay out the law of the land prior to any infraction on their part. This way there is no confusion as to the consequences of their behavior. The key to this is the follow through and sticking to it. This may be difficult when your teen begs and pleads for their laptop/phone/iTouch/TV time back and they act all sweet and remorseful. If they learn you will not give in and they must serve their time if they commit the crime (in this instance of being disrespectful,) they are much more likely to change their ways. Try it and let me know how it goes.
