Silver Spoon Catering Celebrates 20 Years of Premier Service

Silver Spoon Catering Celebrates 20 Years of Providing Premier Catering Services Throughout Westchester and NYC

Silver Spoon Catering Inc. (SSC) celebrates 20 years of providing premier catering services in Westchester and NYC. SSC is known for its level of attention and to the meticulous care that goes into each detail; this reputation has elevated SSC as the premier caterer for entertaining social and corporate events.

Founded in 1997 by Craig Pellis, SSC has become sought after for its elegant affairs. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Pellis got his first job at La Panetiere in Rye. “I was the first chef to come to a job interview wearing a suit,” he recalled. He used his training there and at other French Restaurants to develop a signature style of elegance. The visual displays are always creative and different, and the food is from the highest quality available.

“Our first big break came in the form of a pink flier,” said Pellis, describing how he launched his business. “Shortly after we opened, an HR Executive at Chubb Insurance picked up a pink flier at a supermarket. After catering their summer BBQ, they became our first corporate account.”

Today Silver Spoon has catered approximately 1,500 corporate and personal milestone events, with each event successfully reflecting the taste and style of the individual client. Parties usually range in size from 50-250 people he said, noting that the largest party Silver Spoon had catered was a luncheon for 800 people. “We always bring more food than we need,” he said.

“Over the past 20 years, clients have become more in tune with the food they would like served. In the past few years, there has been an increase in requests for gluten-free and organic food, tailored to individual needs,” said Pellis. To ensure fresh and locally-grown food, Silver Spoon uses local farms, including Hilltop Hanover Farms in Yorktown.

SSC caters to a wide range of individuals and tastes. In addition to standard American and Italian fair, SSC has added Indian and Chinese Specialties. Additionally, for Passover and Rosh Hashana, SSC offers the traditional holiday meals, either as a drop off with staff. “It’s traditional to serve so many foods at Passover; and our clients are appreciative that we pull it together for them,” he said.

Silver Spoon provides a wide range of party planning options to ensure that all parties go off seamlessly. “We think of it as putting together a puzzle,” said Pellis. He noted that Silver Spoon provides assistance with entertainment, venue selection, tent and event rentals, and even décor and linens. “We make it easy for the client,” he said.

Silver Spoon has long been a supporter of Mt. Kisco Day Care Center, participating in Feed Me Fresh, an annual event where local caterers provide food to support the Day Care Center at a gala dinner. “Our two kids are alumni of the daycare and we know firsthand what an excellent program it is,” he said. SSC also delivers extra food to Neighbors Link in Mount Kisco. SSC supports local food banks through food and cash donations. “As caterers, we are concerned that everyone in Westchester has enough to eat,” noted Pellis. Since quality food is our business, it is also our favorite cause.”
