Toothbrush Shoplift/ Smoke Detector in the Woods: Mount Kisco Police Blotter

MOUNT KISCO, NY — Here are some of the incidents to which Westchester County Police responded recently:
Friday, Oct. 21 – 3:33 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Preston Way and North Bedford Road after a tree branch fell on power lines. Traffic was diverted until the branch was removed.
12:52 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Carpenter Avenue after a resident reported hearing a smoke detector sounding, possibly from a neighboring building. A search of the area turned up a smoke detector that had been discarded in a wooded area.

Thursday, Oct. 20 – 11:46 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Pinecrest Manor on Amuso Drive after a resident reported that someone was knocking his door and ringing his doorbell but he was not expecting anyone at that hour. The person was gone upon an officer’s arrival.
7:15 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to the Holiday Inn on Holiday Inn Drive after receiving a 911 hang-up call. An employee said she had dialed the number in error and there was no problem at the hotel.

5:25 p.m. -- Westchester County Police and the Mount Kisco Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Main Street on a report of a possible fire. It was determined that some people were barbecuing on their porch, which caused a smoke condition that was observed by others in the neighborhood.
4:04 a.m. – Westchester County Police responded to Diplomat Drive to assist an 81-year-old woman who was feeling faint and ill. She was transported by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital Center.
Wednesday, Oct. 19 – 6:57 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Grove Street on a report that residents of a home had detected an odor of gas. The house was evacuated at Con Edison was notified.
5:10 p.m. – A village resident reported to Westchester County Police that the license plates on his car were stolen the night before while he was in Port Chester. He was instructed to report the theft to Port Chester police and the DMV.
1:48 p.m. – Joseph Fischman, 23, of Foothill Road, Scarsdale was charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, misdemeanors, after Westchester County Police responded to a reported domestic dispute at a residence on Carpenter Avenue. Officers charged Fischman in connection to damage that occurred to the apartment during the dispute.
Tuesday, Oct. 18 – 10:01 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Spring Street on a report that a possibly rabid raccoon was in the front yard of a home. The animal could not be located.
11:21 a.m. – Daniel Cornett, 30, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., was charged with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor, after he allegedly stole an electronic toothbrush from CVS on North Bedford Road. Westchester County Police Officer David Sanchez was on patrol when he observed a man hurry out of the store holding something under his sweatshirt. The man got into a pickup truck and then threw the item on the floor when the officer approached to speak with him. He was taken into custody after he was unable to produce a receipt for the item and CVS staff confirmed he had not purchased it.
8:24 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Northern Westchester Hospital on a report that a patient’s ex-boyfriend had come to her room against her wishes. The man left when the woman told him she was calling security.
Monday, Oct. 17 – 10:14 a.m. – A resident of Grove Street reported that a fence on his property was damaged, apparently after being struck by a vehicle, sometime between 7:30 and 9:45 a.m.
