UPDATE: Saw Mill Parkway Roaring Brook Exit Reopened
State transportation alert said the crossing arm malfunctioned. In fact, a van had crashed through it exiting the crossing ahead of a train.

UPDATE: The railroad crossing arm was broken when a van on the crossing accelerated through it as it was coming down.
UPDATE: The road has been reopened, NYDOT said.
New York state DOT reports the entrance and exit onto eastbound Roaring Brook Road at the Saw Mill Parkway was closed at 8:30 AM due to police activity for a malfunctioning railroad crossing arm.
