U.S. Sen. Schumer Backs Gashi for Westchester County Legislator

Vedat Gashi, candidate for Westchester County Legislator District 4, has earned the endorsement of United States Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY.

“With so much divisiveness in national government, we need pragmatic voices like Vedat Gashi representing our values on the local level” said Schumer. “He knows firsthand the needs of working families in his community. I’m confident that Vedat is the right man to keep moving Westchester forward.”

“I want to fight to ensure that we continue to have a effective voice in county government who will put our families first” said Gashi “That means holding the line on taxes, investing in our infrastructure, protecting the environment, and standing up for women’s rights. This community is my home and I would be proud to represent my neighbors in the county legislature.”

Gashi, a Yorktown resident, is running on the Democratic, Independence, Green and Working Families party lines. He has received numerous endorsements from labor unions, political groups and elected officials, including Congress member Nita Lowey; Congress member Eliot Engel; Assembly member David Buchwald; Assembly member Sandy Galef; County Executive George Latimer; County Legislator Mike Kaplowitz; New Castle Council Member Ivy Pool; New Castle Council Member Jeremy Saland; Somers Town Council Member Richard Clinchy; State Senator Peter Harckham; State Senator Shelley Mayer; Yorktown Supervisor Ilan Gilbert; Yorktown Clerk Diana Quast; Yorktown Councilmember Vishnu Patel and Yorktown Councilmember Alice Roker. Additional endorsements will be announced by Gashi's campaign in the coming days.

Registered voters in Westchester County can take advantage of the early voting period now in effect to cast their ballots leading up to Election Day on November 5. Early voting details are available from the Westchester County Board of Elections.
