Westchester County DAR Donate Over $2,600 to Hillside School

Bronxville, NY - Members from four Westchester County chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution gathered on Saturday, December 8, 2018, to celebrate the Westchester Regents Roundtable Holiday Luncheon and the 99th anniversary commemoration of the Anne Hutchinson Chapter, NSDAR. Over 60 attendees from the Anne Hutchinson Chapter (Bronxville), Mohegan Chapter (Ossining), Polly Cooper Chapter (Chappaqua), and White Plains Chapter (White Plains) attended the luncheon planned by the Westchester Regents Roundtable. In total, all six Westchester DAR chapters raised over $2,600 for the Hillside School, a DAR approved school outside Boston, MA.

New York State Vice-Regent, Wilhelmena Rhodes Kelly, served as the luncheon’s guest speaker; addressing the DAR mission of education and the importance of supporting the opportunities provided by the Hillside School. Like all DAR schools, the Hillside School began in a rural and disadvantaged area where public education was not accessible; its mission is to provide traditional values and educational skills to the students to help them reach their full potential in life.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation’s children. Its members descend from patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.
