Cops ID Wrong-Way Driver In Friday's Crash On The Saw Mill

The pre-dawn incident also involved a Metro-North truck. Four people were injured.

Police have identified the wrong-way driver who they say caused an accident early Friday morning on the Saw Mill River Parkway. A Bedford Hills man is facing multiple charges.

Police said Christopher Scholl, of Crescent Terrace, drove the wrong way on the Saw Mill and slammed into a pickup truck carrying three Metro-North Commuter Railroad employees.

The 29-year-old and the three railroad employees suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were all transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

The incident occurred at 3:50 a.m. when an Acura driven by Scholl traveled southbound in the northbound lanes of travel before colliding with the pickup near Croton Avenue in Mount Kisco, police said. The driver of the pickup told officers he saw a pair of headlights coming at the truck and he was able to swerve to avoid a full head-on collision.

Due to his injuries, Scholl was issued appearance tickets at the hospital charging him with Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving and Driving While Intoxicated, misdemeanors. He will be booked at county police headquarters at a future date. He is due to appear in Mount Kisco Justice Court on Aug. 31.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — At 3:50 a.m. Friday, a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of travel on the Saw Mill River Parkway collided with a pickup truck Mount Kisco, Westchester County Police report. The crash, near Croton Avenue, injured four people.

The wrong-way driver is a 29-year-old man and he was driving an Acura, police said.

The vehicle he struck was a GMC pickup truck owned by Metro-North and carrying three railroad employees.

The three railroad employees and the wrong-way driver all suffered non-life-threatening injuries (neck and back pain mostly) and were taken to the Westchester Medical Center.

The driver has yet to be formally charged because he is still at the hospital. It is expected he will be charged with DWI, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangerment, misdemeanors, police said.
