📰 News we're reading

• NYCHA seniors refuse to move from Chelsea projects set for demolition (nypost.com) — NYCHA seniors at the Chelsea Addition and Fulton-Elliot Houses are refusing to leave their apartments, even as the city and a private developer move ahead with a $1.2 billion plan to demolish and rebuild the complex. About two dozen elderly residents say proposed temporary units are smaller, less safe, and hard to navigate with walkers, and some report receiving repeated relocation threats. Officials insist redevelopment is needed, while tenants argue the buildings could be repaired instead of razed.

• Have you heard the Higher Word? NYC grown Catholic orchestra going from strength to strength (timesnewsnetworks.com) — A fast-growing Catholic orchestra that began in gatherings at a friend's spacious Chelsea apartment has evolved into sold-out concerts at major Manhattan churches. Higher Word now draws hundreds of stylish, mostly young Catholics seeking beauty, community, and faith-infused classical music. Organizers hope to expand with more concerts, lectures, and liturgies woven into New York City's cultural life.
