We are proud to present Quiet Strength,&nbsp;a solo exhibition by New York-based photographer and visual artist Maria Panina, opening July 1st, from 6–9 PM. The show will remain on view through July 30th.Born in Moscow and rooted in New York, Panina brings a deeply observant eye to the human experience; one shaped by her background in linguistics, years on major commercial productions, and a long-standing practice of collaborative, improvisational portraiture. Her work lives at the intersection of dance, movement, and emotional truth, and has been featured in galleries across New York and Paris.Quiet Strength&nbsp;brings together photographic work created between 2018 and the present, spanning 40 pieces across her celebrated Connection&nbsp;series, portraiture, and still life. The exhibition explores the themes of resilience, deep human connection, and the dignity that lives beneath the surface, the kind of strength that doesn't announce itself.Panina invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and recognize something of themselves in the quiet confidence of her subjects.

The Actors Theatre Workshop

When time is of the essence, how do we reconcile family history with the present?
A medical emergency at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic creates a difficult time for five family members who have been separated by distance, feuds, life, and time.
El Tiempo Que Tenemos is a portrait of Puerto Rican familial diáspora, one world where some family members stay on the island, and another world where family members return, having left and created their own lives outside the island. Binding all the characters together is Time. A past time full of love and pain that affects a present time where distance and fears of time lost speed up the hands on the clock as the family tries to reconcile the conflicts that separated them in the first place.

This production of El Tiempo Que Tenemos is being produced and presented by The Actors Theatre Workshop as part of ATW’s Play Reading and Discussion Series.

Join The Actors Theatre Workshop for Open Mic Night, Wednesday, July 29th from 7-9PM ET!
You’ll have an opportunity to express your ideas and insights for the future and share your messages of light and hope. Perform a monologue (4mins), recite a poem (3mins), sing a song (3mins), perform a scene (5mins), or share an insight and express your heartfelt opinions – – or if you’d like, simply listen and reflect.
Be part of a democratic process of individuals coming together to discuss and implement our very best ideas in our communities. This evening is an opportunity for all of us to develop creatively and get inspired while examining social issues that our community is facing.

Every street has a story.
Walking the City, I seem drawn to certain streets. Each street has a past. Memories. A history. Its own history commingling with my history to the street. I return to favorite streets where I somehow feel at home. A street can anchor you, place you, remind you, make you feel. It can speak to you. Every street has a soul.
There is a mood to a street. The sky, the weather interacting with a street, an emotional dance, an unveiling. Sometimes dramatic, but often quiet and subtle, the streets I paint demand I notice them.
I feel this way about New York City more than any other place. The curve of that street, the remembered buildings still standing to mark my own history to them. Within my paintings there is often a glimpse of my husband Joe, as he has wandered most of these streets with me over the years.
These streets I paint in oil will never look quite the same way again. I am recording a history, a passing moment in time with every street. A very personal journey with NYC. My story is here.
Ellen Bradshaw’s work was influenced by the realism of the Ashcan painters, as well as the sense of color and atmosphere explored by the Impressionists. Ellen's usual subject is New York City. "I'm drawn to the common everydayness of life in the city, and perhaps what is hidden just beneath the surface of the ordinary. The reflective moody quirky streets of Lower Manhattan are my usual subjects - the neighborhoods, the personalities of her buildings, the majesty of her bridges, the streets transformed by snow or the colors of night, the lone figures of daily routine, the everyday intensity of the simple passing of moments against that in-your-face reality that is New York City.”
Ellen has shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions and is the recipient of several awards. She has been President of Pleiades Gallery since 2000.
