EC Arts is throwing out the classical music rulebook with "Bring the Sun to Me"—a vibrant, genre-bending summer concert right here in Chelsea. We are a classical performing arts group, but this is definitely not your traditional, stuffy symphony. Think cinematic rhythms, jazz-infused woodwinds, and modern, boundary-pushing soundscapes brought to life by a percussion ensemble, clarinet choir, flute choir, and a full sinfonietta all sharing the same stage.
The night is packed with adventurous, high-energy music, highlighted by two massive world premieres: Jason Olshan's explosive percussion piece, Camp Hero, and Austin Kleyn's lush new string work, Last Leaf. As a special highlight, we are thrilled to feature composer Jake Gunnar Walsh taking center stage as the soloist to perform his own wildly striking oboe concerto, Mpingo.
