Free Historic Walking Tours of the Flatiron District Offered Every Sunday

The Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District provides free, 90-minute walking tours of the area.

FLATIRON, NY — Want to know more about the cast-iron architecture and the historic charm of the Flatiron District? The Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) provides free, year-round historic walking tours of the district every Sunday. The tours will start back up after the holidays on the first Sunday of the new year.

The 90-minute walking tours highlight many notable landmarks, like the Flatiron Building, New York Life Insurance Building, MetLife Clock Tower, and Appellate Courthouse.

Professional guides and historians lead the way and provide the attendees with meaningful information about the area. Guides include: Miriam Berman, the author of " Madison Square: The Park and Its Celebrated Landmarks” and a book of New York postcards called “New York in Words and Images”; Mike Kaback, a native New Yorker who has great enthusiasm for everything about the city; and, Fred Cookinham, author of “The Age of Rand: Imagining an Objectivist Future World.”

The free tours take place every Sunday at 11 a.m. Attendees are asked to meet at the southwest corner of Madison Square Park in front of the William Seward statue at 23rd St. and Broadway. No advanced registration is required.
