Gas Leak Near Hudson Yards Shuts Down High Line, FDNY Says

Firefighters briefly shut down parts of the Hudson Yards area, including the High Line, during a Wednesday morning gas leak.

CHELSEA, NY — A gas main rupture forced firefighters to shut down parts of the Hudson Yards area Wednesday morning including the elevated High Line park, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.

The FDNY responded to 501 W. 30th St., located on the corner of 10th Avenue, shortly after 8:30 to fix a ruptured high-pressure gas main, an FDNY spokesman told Patch. Traffic was shut down on West 30th Street between 10th and 11th avenues as firefighters worked to shut off the gas. A portion of the High Line above the street was also shut down, an FDNY spokesman said.

Firefighters contained the gas leak and began to open up the scene around 9:30, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.
