Barnes made headlines in 2015 for fighting former New York Knicks Head Coach Derek Fisher in Los Angeles. The fight was caused by Fisher's attempted romance of Barnes' ex-wife Gloria Govan.

The Sacramento Kings were in the city to play the New York Knicks Sunday night. The Kings lost the game 106-98 and Barnes finished with a dreadful 2 points making only one shot in 11 attempts. During the game Knicks fans heckled Barnes by chanting Derek Fisher's name.
