• Mini-grants open for community projects in Steuben, Chemung and Tioga counties (fingerlakes1.com) — Chemung County residents and community groups can now apply for $150–$750 mini-grants to support local sustainability and community-development projects, with applications due by Sept. 1. The program’s first round in the Chemung and Tioga watersheds prioritizes small or new groups, including microbusinesses aiming to go greener or better serve low-income neighbors.
   

• NY home prices hit record high: See median sales prices by county (stargazette.com) — Chemung County remains one of the more affordable housing markets in New York, with median home prices still under $200,000 even as the statewide median hit a record $475,000 in June. A new Realtors report also shows inventory growing and mortgage rates easing slightly.
