• Man charged with stabbing death to return to Rensselaer court (wnyt.com) — A Coeymans resident accused in a fatal 2025 stabbing in Rensselaer is scheduled to return to court on a murder charge. The victim, Brent Reed, was remembered by local leaders and family as a warm, inclusive presence in the Rensselaer community, while the defendant has pleaded not guilty as the case continues. 
• Alleged Red Hook School Arson Follows Similar Recent Incidents Across New York State (thedailycatch.org) — A recent roundup of school bathroom fires across New York highlights a May 2025 incident at Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary, where a student-set fire triggered sprinklers, heavy water damage, and a full evacuation. Coeymans families learn that while no criminal charges were reported, the school closed for remediation and the student faced discipline under the district code of conduct.
