Jewish Book Month: The Love Story of Joseph and Rebecca Bau

Event Details

SYJCC, 74 Hauppauge Rd, Commack, NY, 11725

Celebrate Jewish Book Month this November with the Suffolk Y JCC for a moving program honoring the extraordinary love story of Joseph and Rebecca Bau, whose courage and devotion during the Holocaust continue to inspire generations.

As depicted in the films Schindler’s List and Bau, Artist at War, Joseph and Rebecca’s story is one of love, resilience and heroism. The evening will feature their daughters, Hadassah Bau and Clila Bau-Cohen, through film clips, art panels and books that bring their parents’ remarkable lives to light.

Joseph Bau was an artist, author, counterfeiter and a Mossad agent who was saved by Oskar Schindler. During the Holocaust, he used his artistic skills to forge documents that helped save his life and the lives of countless others. Rebecca Bau was a nurse and spy who spoke seven languages and transferred lifesaving information to help others in the camps.

Join the Suffolk Y JCC for an evening of history, art and remembrance as we honor two extraordinary individuals whose legacy of love and courage endures.
