District Cuts German Out of Curriculum

Sixth grade students will no longer be offered German language as of the new school year, David Weiss, assistant superintendent for secondary education said. 

Participation was low for the past several years, with combinations of levels necessary in the high school, Weiss said. The decision to cut the language out of the curriculum came with the 2010-2011 budget cuts. 

These reductions were part of the 26.5 scale points reduced in the Middle School as part of the revised budget, saving the district a total of $26,408. 

Students who have already started with the German curriculum will be able to continue their education to twelfth grade.
