Latino artists take center stage in Arte Latino II at the Mills Pond House Gallery August 14 – September 30, 2010. Viewers will experience unique views of Latino artistic expression that reflect the diversity of the Latino community in the United States.
The exhibit includes twenty-seven artists who draw their inspiration from a broad range of themes, from immigration to politics, cultural assimilation and family values. The artists hail from California, Kansas, Ohio, Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico and New York. Nine Long Island artists are represented. The work presents a snapshot of the rich customs and traditions that their cultures (Colombia, Honduras, Peru, Puerto Rico, Panama, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Spain) have woven into their American lives.
The exhibition opening reception will be held on Saturday, August 14 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. The public is invited to the opening reception (admission is free) to view the exhibition and meet the exhibiting artists.
