Fire Heavily Damages Commack Businesses

A fire at a commercial building in Commack Wednesday night heavily damaged Ralph’s Italian Ices, Nathan’s Famous and Lorenzo’s Pizza, officials said.

The Commack Fire Department responded to the blaze at 8:33 p.m. at the building located at 314 Commack Road, just north of Wicks Road. About 75 firefighters using 10 trucks from the Commack and Kings Park fire departments battled the smoky fire which was brought under control within 45 minutes, officials said.

The Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Dix Hills Fire Department Rescue Squad had EMS crews at the scene, while the East Northport Fire Department provided standby coverage for Commack.

Units were under the command of Commack Fire Chief Pete Paccione with operations support of Third Assistant Chief Paul Carnevale. Commack Road was closed and traffic diverted around the scene. There were no injuries reported and the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad, as well as the Huntington and Commack fire marshals. Suffolk Fire-Rescue Coordinators were also on the scene assisting.
