Fundraiser Started After Commack Man Loses House In Fire

The fundraiser almost reached its goal of $30,000.

The Commack community came together to help a local resident after his home was destroyed in a fire earlier this month.

On March 4, Wendy Aull created a fundraising page on GoFundMe on behalf of Tracy Binger after the fire destroyed Binger's Dryden Way home the night before.

Binger and his two children came home to find the house on fire and most of their things destroyed.

In addition, their family 8-year-old dog, Ginger, perished from smoke inhalation.

According to the page, after the fire was put out the house was condemned leaving the family homeless.

"Tracy has had a run of bad luck lately, and two weeks ago he had an accident with the family SUV, and it was totaled. Thankfully everyone is okay," Binger's mother, Nancy Binger wrote on the page. "Tracy has always been quick to help anyone in need, and now it is time to return the favor."

The goal was to raise a total of $30,000 to help out the family. As of Tuesday, a total of $28,526 has been raised through the GoFundMe page.
