Library Adds More Museums to Pass Program

The museum pass program has five passes available for CPL patrons, and will add three additional passes this summer.

The Commack Public Library this summer has expanded its museum passes program to include free trips to the Long Island Children's museum, the famed Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum in New York city and the Old Westbury Gardens, giving local families a chance to visit the museums for free.

The nearly two-year-old program offers a family of two adults and two children free admission, and continually adds more passes as funds become available. Friends of the CPL also donated two of the new passes this summer.

The library still has five available passes, one each to LICM, the Whaling Museum in Cold Spring Harbor, the American Museum of Natural History, Nassau County Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum and the Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium.

Passes are only available to Commack Public Library patrons – a Suffolk County Library card doesn't qualify, however. Other libraries in the area have started similar programs, Pastore said.

Reservations can be made two months in advance.
