Street Renaming Ceremony For Lt. Raguso Scheduled For Saturday

The ceremony will honor the former firefighter and Air Force master sergeant who was killed in a helicopter crash in 2018.

COMMACK, NY - A portion of Jericho Turnpike will officially be renamed Lt Christopher Raguso Memorial Highway this weekend.

The renaming honors Raguso, a firefighter for both the Commack Fire Department and the FDNY, and a Air Force master sergeant who was one of four killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq in March 2018.

The signs already up on the highway 500 feet east of the Dix Hills Diner and about 1,000 feet from the Smithtown bull, will officially be unveiled on Saturday, August 3rd.

The Commack Fire Department will be hosting the ceremony starting at the headquarters located on 6309 Jericho Turnpike from 10 a.m. to noon.

Refreshments will be served after the ceremony, rain or shine.
