Trainer Adds Teen Tips to New Health Column

Tips for weight loss and fitness training, tailored to teens by Elyse Indelicato will be featured in this column.

Adolescents 11 years old to 16 years old have found their own gym in Fit 4 Teens, which offers personalized machines, training exercises and eating plans, according to owner and licensed personal trainer Elyse Indelicato.

But Indelicato is taking on another challenge: writing. The trainer will contribute to the Commack Patch's Because it's Good for You column beginning in a few weeks. She said students often lead sedentary lives and don't always choose healthy snacks when they come home from school. Her tips for healthy living for teens – because, as she will explain, it is not all about weight loss – include healthy snack ideas, ideas to keep fitness fun and engaging, and ways of fitting the fitness routine into their daily schedule.

Her gym opened in 2005 and has helped many teenagers gain self-esteem, a fit body and a sound mind. She has counselors speak about body image issues and encourages students to work together on goals.
