• Corning Classic returns to LPGA schedule featuring $5M payout (espn.com) — Corning is set to host a revived LPGA tournament in 2027, with “The Classic” returning after 18 years and offering a huge $5 million purse. The long-running Corning Classic helped put the city on the golf map, and organizers say strong community support and Corning Inc.’s 175th anniversary are driving its comeback. 
• Phyllis E. Garman, 73, Ogdensburg (northcountrynow.com) — A Corning connection is noted in the obituary of 73-year-old Phyllis E. Garman, whose son Luke lives in Corning. Garman, remembered for her compassion and long career in social and mental health services in Ogdensburg, passed away July 29 and is fondly recalled for her love of family, learning, and simple creative hobbies.
• Palmesano's August 2026 Grant Action News (wlea.net) — Assemblyman Phil Palmesano of Corning is highlighting an August roundup of state, federal, and private grants that local governments, nonprofits, schools, and farmers across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes can tap into.
