
DEER PARK, NY – A person was killed when a Long Island Rail Road train struck a car on the tracks in Deer Park Monday afternoon.
It happened around 12:30 p.m. at the crossing on Carlls Path just south of Long Island Avenue. The car that was struck burst into flames.
Service on the Ronkonkoma Branch was suspended in both directions between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma, but it has since been restored.
