29 Long Island High Schools Among Top 100 in State

Niche.com has released its 2016 ”Best Public High Schools in America” list, with 29 Long Island schools among the top 100 in New York.

The top ranked school in New York is Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. The first Long Island school on the list is Jericho Senior High School, which ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 13 nationwide.

Overall, Long Island schools took a dip in the rankings compared to Niche’s 2015 list, which included 35 Long Island high schools among the top 100 in New York.

• No. 41- Herricks High School
• No. 45- Half Hollow Hills High School East
• No. 46- Garden City High School
• No. 47- Westhampton Beach Senior High School
• No. 48- Bay Shore Senior High School
• No. 50- Cold Spring Harbor High School
• No. 51- North Shore Senior High School
• No. 54- Southampton High School
• No. 57- Lynbrook Senior High School
• No. 59- Half Hollow Hills High School West
• No. 64- Wheatley School
• No. 68- Walt Whitman High School
• No. 69- Oceanside High School
• No. 78- Commack High School

The annual U.S. News and World Report high school rankings released earlier this year included 11 Long Island high schools among the top 50 in the state. Garden City High School was the top ranked Long Island high school on that list.
