A 74-year-old North Babylon man is accused of stalking young girls, inviting one into his car and exposing himself to another, Suffolk Police say.

First Precinct Squad detectives conducted an investigation after a father of two young girls reported that a man had been stalking girls in his Wyandanch neighborhood repeatedly between July 5 and July 9.

Police say Jeffrey Bernstein, who is a registered sex offender, drove through the area around South 23rd Street slowly and stopped on repeated occasions, staring at young girls for long periods of time. On one occasion, he attempted to entice a girl into his vehicle with a bag of chips, according to police. In another instance, he exposed himself, police say.
