Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting Outside Deer Park Bar
Two people were shot, one fatally, outside the Nite Owl Lounge last year, police say.

A year after a shooting outside a Deer Park bar left one man dead and another injured, Suffolk police have made an arrest in the case.
Jhamek Daniels, of Brentwood, was arrested Tuesday night in connection with the death of Jean Yves and the wounding of Javonne Mimms on Jan. 16, 2014, police said. Daniels, 23, is charged with second degree murder and second degree attempted murder.

The shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Nite Owl Lounge, located at the corner of Long Island Avenue and Wright Avenue, at 2:22 a.m., police said.
According to police, three people inside a white Cadillac pulled into the parking lot and two people in a group standing outside fired several shots at the vehicle.

The driver, identified by police as Yves, 25, of Wyandanch, was stuck and later pronounced dead at the hospital. A passenger, Mimms, was struck in the chest.
The group that included the two shooters fled the scene in two vehicles, police said.
The day after the shooting, police said that homicide detectives were exploring the possibility that the shooting was gang-related.
Daniels was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
