Arrest Made in North Babylon Bank Robbery

BREAKING: A 38-year-old man was arrested Friday, police say. He's also accused of trying to rob a Medford bank.

Police say they have arrested a 38-year-old man who robbed a bank in North Babylon and tried to rob another in Medford last summer.

Dennis Weiss, of Islip Terrace, was arrested on Thursday at about 12:15 p.m., according to Suffolk Police.

Police say Weiss robbed the Capital One bank located at 1383 Deer Park Ave. in North Babylon on Aug. 25. Two months earlier, on June 22, police say he tried to rob the Chase bank located at 2271 Route 112 in Medford.

Weiss is charged with third degree robbery and third degree attempted robbery. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
