Breakfast with Santa at SSCM

What a timely treat to be with Saint Nick on the Feast of Saint Nicholas (aka: Santa Claus)!

With combined efforts from over 70 parent, student and parish volunteers working together, it’s no Christmas Miracle that SSCM’s Annual Breakfast with Santa is one of the highlights of the year – and this year’s affair was no exception. Planning for this year’s mouthwatering meal and surrounding activities began months ago and the hard work definitely paid off!

While some of the breakfast fare was donated by wonderful local neighboring businesses, such as the Olympic Diner, Wally’s Bagels and Super Stop & Shop, much of the meal was cooked up by our own school and parish volunteers. Parent Association coordinators did a fabulous job of attending to every detail. Older students manned (or wo-manned) the buffet stations, serving up a smile with every sausage, and the spirit of the season could be felt from end to end of the auditorium.

Each child had a glow of anticipation as they took their awaited seat on Santa’s lap, whispering Christmas wishes in his ear and hopping away with a candy cane from Jolly Old Saint Nick himself. Mrs. Claus was on hand, as well, with songs and stories for all the boys and girls. Games, crafts, balloons, and a fabulous array of raffle prizes, as well as Christmas tunes galore rounded out the festivities nicely and a good time was had by all.

A simple word of “Thanks” just does not sum up how grateful we all are to the countless volunteers who gave of their time and talent to make this occasion a memorable one for all who joined. For everyone who tied ribbons and crisped bacon, to those who hung snowflakes and wiped down tables, for each meticulous detail from raffle bags to de-tangling Christmas lights…we thank you and we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
