Car Crashes Into Suffolk Pizzeria; 3 People Hospitalized

BREAKING: A 66-year-old woman stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal Sunday morning, police say.

WEST BABYLON, NY – Three people were taken to the hospital after a car crashed into a West Babylon pizzeria Sunday morning, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, a 66-year-old woman was driving a Mercury Grand Marquis eastbound on Herzel Boulevard when she stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and her car struck another vehicle, driven by a male, at the intersection of Little East Neck Road at about 11:30 a.m.

The Marquis then crashed into Giovanni’s Pizza located at 1007 Little East Neck Road. Neither driver was injured. A female pizzeria employee was transported to a local hospital because the Marquis ran over her foot. Two occupants of the pizzeria were transported to a hospital for evaluation.”

The North Babylon Fire Department, under command of Chief John Caroleo, responded to the scene. The West Babylon Fire Department sent an ambulance to the scene.
